TMT Stress Test
Tread Mill Test, also called as Regular Stress Test, or TMT Test, determines the effect of physical stress on your heart. It is done to see how well your heart responds when you are made to exercise in a controlled environment. It is performed on OPD basis so there is no need of hospitalization for the test. Patient exercises on a Treadmill under the supervision of a physician and his/her ECG is monitored continuously. In addition, blood pressure and other symptoms are also monitored. Electrocardiogram (ECG)
An electrocardiogram (ECG) is one of the simplest and fastest procedures used to evaluate the heart. Electrodes (small, plastic patches) are placed at certain locations on the chest, arms, or legs. When the electrodes are connected to an ECG machine by lead wires, a graphic representation, or tracing, of the electrical activity can be obtained. This electrical activity is measured, interpreted, and printed out for the doctor’s information and further interpretation.
ECG usually takes five to ten minutes to complete and is a safe procedure with no known risks. It’s completely painless and non-invasive, as the skin is in no way penetrated and no electric current is sent to the body. Holter Monitoring
Holter monitor test is used to help explain what is happening to your heart rhythm and/or why you are having palpitations. A technician will place the electrodes that sense your heartbeat on your chest. For men, a small amount of hair may be shaved to ensure the electrodes stick. The technician will then connect the electrodes to a recording device with several wires. It is advisable to wear a loose fitting shirt with a higher neckline so that the electrodes can be covered.
